Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?

First off, I want to wish all mothers a Happy Mother’s Day!

And I hope it is a happy Mother’s Day for you all!

But alas, I know this day may not be so happy for some, & for many reasons that I won’t list. The thing is, you know why…but most importantly, God knows why.

So, who is a mother? Do you even have to have biological or adopted children of your own to be a mother?

The biblical answer to this is no!

“And stretching out his hand toward his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.””

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭12‬:‭49‬-‭50‬ ‭ESV‬‬

So, in order to be a biblical mother, you must be a disciple of Jesus! A disciple of Jesus is one who does the will of God!

If you aren’t a disciple of Jesus yet, I want to refer you to one of my older posts that has a prayer at the end:

When you become a disciple of Jesus, & do the will of God, you then become many roles to others who are disciples of Christ!

A father, a mother, a brother, a sister!

So, for the mothers out there where this day may bring sadness, be encouraged! You are still a mother! You still have a responsibility of a mother! You are NOT forsaken!

There are people in your life that God placed there because they need you!

There are women & children out there that need you to teach them what is good! They need you to train them up to love their husbands & children, to be self-controlled & pure! They need you to be that model for this! This is the will of God. (Titus 2:3-5).

When you place your trust in Jesus, though your flesh may feel unhappy & sad on this day, if you walk in the spirit, you WILL experience God’s joy!

With that said, I want to close with this…

Have a JOYFUL MOTHER’S DAY!

If you haven’t already, please share the link to this post & subscribe to my blog from the home page. Thank you & God bless!
